Điều quan trọng nhất cần ghi nhớ là hướng diễn tiến của vết thương. Quá trình lành thương bình thường sẽ dần cải thiện mỗi ngày. Ngược lại, nếu bị nhiễm trùng thì tình trạng sẽ ngày càng tệ hơn: vùng da đỏ lan rộng ra, cơn đau tăng lên thay vì giảm, và cơ thể bạn cũng cảm thấy không ổn. Những dấu hiệu bình thường trong vài ngày đầu

Trong vài ngày đầu sau phẫu thuật, vết thương đang hồi phục thường có diện mạo và cảm giác như sau; tất cả những điều này đều không đáng lo ngại:

  • Một đường đỏ nhạt mỏng ở ngay rìa vết thương. Vành da màu hồng hoặc đỏ hẹp bao quanh vết mổ là dấu hiệu cho thấy cơ thể đang tiến hành quá trình phục hồi. Vùng này nên chỉ xuất hiện gần vết thương chứ không lan rộng ra vùng da xung quanh.
  • Xuất hiện vết bầm tím quanh khu vực vết thương; vết bầm có thể lan rộng và thay đổi màu sắc (từ tím sang xanh lá cây vàng) trong vòng một đến hai tuần.
  • Sưng nhẹ và cảm giác căng cứng, hơi cứng quanh vết mổ.
  • Một lượng nhỏ dịch trong suốt hoặc lẫn máu chảy ra trong ngày đầu tiên, đặc biệt là trên miếng gạc. Việc tiết dịch loãng, trong suốt hoặc chỉ hơi hồng là hiện tượng bình thường.
  • Cảm giác đau nhức giảm dần theo thời gian. Ban đầu vết thương sẽ hơi đau, nhưng cơn đau sẽ dịu đi từng ngày.

Các dấu hiệu cảnh báo nhiễm trùng

Hãy liên hệ ngay nếu bạn nhận thấy bất kỳ dấu hiệu nào sau đây, đặc biệt là khi có nhiều dấu hiệu cùng lúc hoặc các triệu chứng ngày càng nặng hơn:

  • Vùng da đỏ lan rộng ra khỏi vết thương, thay vì chỉ xuất hiện dưới dạng một đường mỏng ở viền vết thương.

  • Sưng phù ngày càng nhiều quanh vết thương.

  • Mùi hôi khó chịu phát ra từ vết thương hoặc băng gạc.
  • Các mép vết thương bị tách ra thay vì liền lại với nhau.
  • Các vệt đỏ lan dọc theo chi từ vết thương đi lên phía trên.
  • Cảm giác mệt mỏi toàn thân, sốt, cảm thấy nóng lạnh hoặc ớn lạnh.

Việc xuất hiện riêng lẻ từng dấu hiệu không nhất thiết là dấu hiệu nguy hiểm, nhưng khi kết hợp lại, chúng là tín hiệu cho thấy cơ thể cần được can thiệp y tế ngay lập tức chứ không chỉ cần thời gian để tự lành.

Cần làm gì

Nếu bạn nghi ngờ vết thương bị nhiễm trùng, đừng để mặc nó nhiều ngày mà hy vọng nó tự khỏi. Hãy liên hệ ngay với đội ngũ phẫu thuật (gọi đến các phòng khám) hoặc bác sĩ đa khoa để được kiểm tra.
